A wise man once said that walking through the streets of Paris will teach you the point of life. I had this revelatory experience when I traveled to Paris with my husband this summer. I was coming off the back of a life-changing trip to Siena and arrived feeling more self assured and confident than I had in years. This created a palpable energy that Matteo picked up on—I could see him looking at me differently, as if I was slightly more enigmatic, mysterious, or beautiful than he remembered. An entirely new version of me was unfolding in Paris, and he was discovering me as I was discovering myself, which allowed me to discover him all over again. I arrived back in my London studio, equipped with supplies from my (and Picasso’s) favourite Left Bank art shop, Magasin Sennelier,  and ‘You’re Sexy in Paris’ was born: a portrait of a man and a woman, looking at each other anew.
